Ingredients

  • cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated White Sugar
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Molasses, for a closer brown sugar flavor/texture
  • 1 cup 2 sticks Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips semi-sweet, milk chocolate, or a mix

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven & Prepare Pans: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or leave ungreased.
  • Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated white sugar (and optional molasses, if using) with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix Dough: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredient mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips by hand with a sturdy spatula or wooden spoon until evenly distributed.
  • Scoop Dough: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared (or ungreased) baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake: Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the centers are set but still slightly soft.
  • Cool Cookies: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Enjoy: Enjoy your delicious chocolate chip cookies no brown sugar!

Notes

For a chewier cookie when not using brown sugar, ensure your butter is properly softened (not melted) and avoid overbaking. Adding the optional molasses will also contribute to a chewier texture and deeper flavor.
Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can help prevent cookies from spreading too much and can enhance flavor.
This chocolate chip cookies no brown sugar recipe is versatile; experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts if desired.
